Meet Chef Gallo
Chef Christopher Gallo has spent the last 10 years working on his own style of cooking and has brought that passion and joy to the Roxy Encinitas. Chef Chris has always had a love of food that started with his upbringing in a very New York Italian family that always gathered in the kitchen at the end of its day to spend time with one another. Moving to West Coast at the age of 11 brought Chef Chris to experience all that is California agriculture in its abundance of amazing food from the land and sea. It is a true joy to be part of such a wonderful food community and to be surrounded by so many passionate people on a daily basis.
Chef Chris has worked for some of the finest kitchens that San Diego has to offer. In 2006 he started as garden manager for Chef Stephane Voitzwinker at Bertrand at Mister A’s. Chef Chris worked his way through countless stations over the next 3 ½ years to become a lead line chef. He feels truly blessed to have had and continue to have a mentor and friend in Chef Voitzwinker. Chef Chris then continued his training from Chef Jeff Jackson at the Lodge at Torrey Pines in La Jolla. Chef Chris spent over 3 ½ years working many different positions for Chef Jackson including lead line chef for the acclaimed A.R Valentien, along with working as the hotel butcher, and hotel saucier. Chef Jackson truly helped Chef Chris find his own professional style and refinement in the kitchen.
